It collaborates with small-scale farmers, weavers, and artisans to enhance soil health, livelihood, and well-being through indigenous, climate-smart practices that build climate resilience, traditionally.

KAUNA CRAFTS

The soft water-loving reed grass -Kauna grows abundantly in the fading wetlands of Manipur. Its long, durable fibres are naturally resistant to moisture, decay, and pests, making it ideal for crafting functional items. For generations, this eco-friendly craft has been passed from mothers to daughters, preserved primarily by women using no chemical dyes or machines—just carbon-neutral, ecologically safe techniques. Complementing this tradition is the vibrant palette of Manipuri embroidery, a colourful, feminine legacy of artistry. If you value conscious consumerism and cultural appreciation, embrace these handcrafted pieces while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the small-scale artisans who create them. And, if it is sustainable, soulful and handwoven- isn’t it a luxury?
